April in Review

Ack, another month has passed, and it's time for another monthly review. I think I've reflected a lot on how my life connects to my passions. My laptop also broke down half way through the month and I got it fixed as well, but I'm still being very careful with how I use it and what I do on the computer.

Twice, Yang Da Il, Lovelyz & More

I know I usually post song releases on Saturday nights, but I'm moving this post a day earlier because I'm getting ready for an April in Review, so look forward!

There's also a lot of songs this week so don't forget to check out the songs on the bottom!

Twice - Cheer Up
Twice is back! But I don't think this song is as good and cheery as their debut song.

HK Dramas & The Struggle of a Language Barrier

Technically this shouldn't even belong in the K-drama category, but it still is part of dramas. Many people I've talked to criticize HK (Hong Kong) dramas because they're always about police and crime solving dramas. But, I really don't have anything against police dramas. It's really entertaining and I find that these dramas are actually a lot better than the other dramas out there. I feel like there's an actual story and plot when it comes to police dramas. I remember watching a lot of dramas that were more of family or daily life, and it's pretty pointless, but I just continue to watch because I want to know how it ends.

April 24 - April 30: Songs of the Week

I'm on break, which means I'm so excited for...being active on here and not doing actual work. So here's some good songs that keep me going.

1) KNK - Knock
2) Yezi - Cider
3) KittiB - Doin' Good

Yesung, Eunji, Vibe & More

Computer update: I got it fixed! It can turn on and everything, but according to the tech people, my computer won't be able to last too long because it is slowly falling apart. But that's okay, I only need to last to the end of this semester. So meanwhile, I'm back to finish all the posts that I wasn't able to do. It's also so great to have a big screen again; I can finally read stuff and watch dramas without straining my eyes.

The Importance of Your Existence

Note: This post may contain spoilers for Come Back Ahjusshi.

After watching Come Back Ahjusshi, I was thinking about how important everyone's existence is. What would it be like if your existence was wiped off the face of Earth? Would the people around you be happier? Have you made a positive change or a negative change in other people?

Come Back Ahjusshi Review

Not so long ago I wrote about starting to watch this drama and now I'm already done with the drama. As usual, I didn't watch the first few episodes since I thought it was a bit boring to see the character's backgrounds and how they died, but it's actually the most important part because relationships were established and the point of them coming back was to figure out their deaths and straighten things out before they official go to heaven. I thought the plot was pretty interesting and the humor was what really kept me going. Although there were some sad parts to the drama, I felt like it was necessary (unlike One More Happy Ending). If the plot is going to be about people who died and them having a second chance to straighten out their lives, it's obviously going to be sad at one point or another when they learn about truths that they never knew before.

April 18 Update: Computer Issues

Tldr; my laptop is continuously overheating because the fan isn't working and I have trouble turning on my computer (probably because I overworked it). But on the bright side, I'm getting it fixed, but meanwhile, I'm not sure whether I will be able to post anything that wasn't already scheduled for posting, but I am trying to write up some posts on my phone. It definitely is inconvenient for me, but I hope this would work out. Also on the bright side, my school has lent me a chromebook so that I can do my work, but for some reason, I can't access the blogger website (because you do sign in with your Gmail and I am already signed in with my school email, which doesn't allow you to use blogger).

April 17 - April 23: Songs of the Week

I'm sure you can tell I was pretty depressed when I made this playlist. There's so much going on and I just can't handle all the work and stress everyone is giving me. When I'm down, I like listening to sad music. I know, some say that it makes you even more sad, but it actually makes me feel better because it fits my mood.

1) Exo- Miracles in December
2) Kyuhyun - A Million Pieces
3) Nell - Lost in Perspective

Debuts of NCT, Sam Kim, I.O.I, Mintty & More

IOI - Crush
I'm not a big fan of Produce 101, but they're releasing songs so I feel obligated to add this on. I'm not even sure if the name I wrote is right. Is it IOI? 1O1? lOl? LOL?

Sam Kim - No Sense

Why I'm Reluctant to Call Kpop Stars, "Idols"

I'm a liar, I have referred to them as "idols" before, but only because that's how other people refer to them. "Idols", at least to me, is someone you really look up to, someone who you wish to be like. Do I really look up to these Kpop stars? In some ways, yes; in most cases, no. People I do look up to, are like Jessi and Jay Park, as in how successful they have become after all those scandals. I always like to take Jay Park as an example because he first debuted with 2PM and left because of some comments that netizens dug up from his social media. Years later, he came back into the scene, signed with a different company and a few years after that, made his own label. Now that's someone worth looking up to.

Page Turner Review

I've been waiting for this drama to start before my 3 dramas ended. I remember I asked my friend a bajillion times for the name of this drama because I just couldn't remember what it was. But, it turns out to be a pretty good drama. It's really different, considering it's actually only 3 episodes long, coming out only once a week. But nonetheless, it's pretty good. It has a good blend of humor and touching scenes. Sometimes, I would find myself laughing even though I know it's a rather serious situation. But, a drama is a drama. It's not necessarily real, but can be real, if you know what I mean.

April 10 - April 16: Songs of the Week

A while ago, I wrote a post about songs and concepts that I miss a lot. These songs are probably from 2010-2012, basically songs that I listened to when I started becoming a really big Kpop fangirl.

1) MBLAQ - This is War
This is War came out in 2012 and I remember loving this song back then. I'm pretty sure this was actually the first song I heard from MBLAQ, or at least the first song (maybe only song) I liked from them. Their other songs are ehh, but hey, I don't have to like everything right? But I do like this movie like music video, although I guess it doesn't necessarily make that much sense. And as I talked about before, Lee Joon and Thunder left, as of 2014 and I haven't really kept up with them since.

Comebacks of the Week: April 3 - April 9

Na Aram - 스쳐
I don't know why this song is so short, but it's so good.

BewhY - Shalom

How the New Hallyu Wave is Changing Kpop and My Thoughts On It

Kpop is having a very big presence worldwide and I think it's mainly because of Psy, who paved the road with Gangnam Style. As someone who started to get into Kpop around 2011, I feel like I shouldn't really have a say in this because 2011 was the point where things started to change. I don't and won't know how it feels to be an older Kpop fan who've seen more changes in Kpop, but I think I've seen enough to know what I'm writing about. For reference point, Gangnam Style came out in 2012 and at the point I'm writing this, it has 2 billion views. It frustrates me when people only think of Gangnam Style when they hear Kpop because that is NOT what Kpop is. In fact, I didn't like Gangnam Style when it first came out, but everyone loves it because of how quirky and catchy it is. Seeing how popular Kpop can become, I feel like many companies are trying to tackle the American market. In fact, JYP tried it back then with the Wonder Girls and it didn't turn out well, but things are different now.

April 3 - April 9: Songs of the Week

I had an easier time picking out these songs, but following the theme for last week, these songs are songs that I like the best from more popular groups. For some, I wish the groups would continue doing concepts like these instead of what they are doing now.

1) Super Junior - Evanesce
Whenever I hear this song, I think of that time SuJu performed this and HeeChul blanked out and forgot to get on the rising stage. Derp. But anyway, I don't think this was a really promoted song, but I really like it. It's probably my favorite song from them.

Comebacks from Block B, Day6, and Jung Joonil

This week was a bit slow for me, so I'm sorry for having fewer songs.

Block B - A Few Years Later
It's so refreshing to hear a rather ballad-y side of Block B.

Day6 - Letting Go
